Luck
2 of my friends are so lucky with good drops ( its unbelieveble how lucky )
are the drops really random? im asking because i rarely get good drops extremly rarely. i'll give you an example. new underworld we three + other players go in finish it and the green drops come my friends get the most expensive to sell items i get nothing or a shitty item. we finished it 8 times now, 3 times i got nothing other times i get the most shitty drops there are. is there somehow to increase your luck or something? its not only here in the underwold is everywhere we go together they get all the good stuff i got all the shitty stuff. is it just my bad luck and there good luck or is there more to it? |

There is no way to improve your luck that is known to work. Some people may claim methods, but nothing I have heard of has been proven to increase luck.

No such thing as luck, it is all algorithms. I will tell you that there is antifarming systems in place, and that is probably why you get worse drops.

Beowulf, after all the times in Sorrow's Furnace and completing Tombs four times, want to know how many green drops I have gotten TOTAL in my lifetime?
Four. Before last night, when I finally got Victo's Blade, the most valuable thing I have ever gotten since I started playing last May was a Superior Smiting Rune (which I gave to a guildie). I think there are simply unlucky people out there. I'm one of them. |

I used to be unlucky, until the new Tombs. 3 axes, 1 shield and 1 blade later and methinks my luck has changed.

It is basically random.
Personally, I make my own luck. I went out chest farming for 2 hours, payed 10k for keys, got around 50k from perfect mods. |

Like LifeInfusion said, its all algorithms and mathmatical stuff but there is always the feeling of bad luck when u think you are missing out. Personnally I have played with each profession and my Mesmer had more decent drops in her first 10 levels than I have ever had with my 1 million+ xp monk. Maybe the game had decided to even out my drops across the account...who knows

Chest runs usually cure the unluckiness.. Out of 5 runs in Fissure, you are bound to get a good item. (Psst.. Keep the chest runs on the down diggidy low, so Anet doesn't nerf them, kno what I'm sayin G?) lol

Honestly? The looting system in this game is my biggest issue with Guild Wars.
There's no rhyme or reason to it either, I know a guildmate that has went to UW and got the axe 2 times, and never not gotten anything. I've been there three times, first time got the axe, second time got the necro gauntlet and ogre knife, third time got nothing. Then there are people who have been there three times and got nothing all three. This is to say that Another story is one time I was in FoW. There were 8 party members, and through out course of about 90 minutes in there each member of the party got at least 1 shard (other then me!), 2 of them got two and one of them got 3. Someone even offered to give me a shard out of pitty. Now, if that wasn't bad enough - Every member of the group other then two people (myself and another) got a chaos axe. One person got a max gold vamp chaos axe. This all to say that the dropping system that those who work on this game have created is not only completey unfair but I think they were drunk when they coded it in. I hope in factions the system is better, I really do. Bad luck is something that happends to the best of us, but bad luck becomes faulty coding when it's time after time after time. |

IMO how to get the best drops in the party is to put alot of effort into the team
heres my example: i went on a barrage team for new hoh things worked great until the last chamber. 1 monk and the warrior left so we had no tankers =/ i already put in alot of effort into the group and so i went and became the tanker with the other rangers. in a bad group all died except me and the monk, had 3 monsters left so i kept tanking( the monsters were the dryders and banished horseman) after i killed the last one it dropped an ecto for me (first one to drop for me) another one: was on my mes/mo doing thunderhead one warrior our team told us what to do and had good aggro. while in the city killing the groups 2 golds dropped for the warrior( no golds for the rest of us ) thats my view on the drop thing k i might be wrong on the drop system because i just bought an unided sword and it came out 15^50 with very good mods but who knows the person i bought it from mightve put alot of effort into the group Last edited by Jack Lost; Jan 25, 2006 at 11:45 PM // 23:45.. |

its not about effort. because i also farm with a good friend of mine hes only tanking nad further doing nothing i kill everything in the UW or anywhere else. so about effert if i do just about everything and he is only keeping his health up. so i think 95% of all the work is on me and still the good drops are for him. 1 theory i have is that the drops are bound to your account (the amount of luck).
for every theorie i have about the drop system, comes out to 1 thing. the drop system really extremly sucks. ( i especially hate it when we got someone in the party who says he knows everything and what to do, and all he does is agro wrong groups and dare i say it RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO up the mission or farming run or something like it, and gues who the good drops go to --> that anoying person. as most people who play this game, we all hope there is a better drop system in the next version (Faction thingy forgot the name again) |

systems...
not sure if anyone has posted anything along these lines on drop rates/luck
Does banning/bad behavior/foul language change drop rates/luck? Some of my best drops (sup abs,sup vig, 15^50 weapons) have been within 30-45 minutes of giving away a gold max or sup rune. Favor seems to have an effect also (solo farming) Last week i had my best two days of farming yet: 3 sup abs, 5 sup vigors, several sup monk runes, and this week so far: 1 sup abs, 2 sup vigors. I also will leave a farming area alone for several days and come back to better drops... |

So its 50/50 in terms of effort. And just my $.02, but I have 2 accounts and have done duo UW runs by myself. I've also done 2 man teams with another person and based on both of these experiences, I would say that I prefer the necro. It's easier and more fun, IMO. |

i noticed that the less exp a player has, the better the drops. tested this with ecto farmin chars and after 500k exp my drops lowered.
-my nub monk and nub necro used to get assigned about 2-3 ectos per smite run (2 man team). when he hit 500k, i would only be assigned 1 or nothing. -my 1.5mil monk when teamed up with another 1+ mil friend would almost never find anything. i remember we once did 4 complete runs without ANY drops at all. and that has NEVER happened to me when i played low exp chars. EDIT: my 2 monks and necro are on 3 separate accnts. so these findings have nothing to do with the account being over used or any 'over farming'. i'd like to know if any1 else noticed this thing. for all i know, could be coincidence. Best luck ever in SF here
One time me and a guildie and some other people went down. We get to Brohn. He drops 2 items a Stoneheart for me and a Holy rod for guildie, next we go to drago, he drops 2 sundering bows for me and my guildie then, we go to Bortak and he drops a bone cesta for me. I almost died that run from a heart attack. |

Your group was down two people; your "luck" there may stem from the fact that there were fewer people to distribute the loot to, not to your extra effort. Second: Your sample is far too small to draw any conclusions. Third: I hope you do not mean to imply that a healing monk is not putting as much effort into the team. You don't mean to imply that, do you? I guarantee you the only reason you WERE still alive and able to tank at all was the fact that the other monk was healing the snot out of you. |

Im not that kind of lucky person either
I rarely get something gold, only once got a green one (after SO many times in SF), and it was the crappiest greenie there is Then in Hells Precipe i got a gold armor piece from a Spark of the titans, i ran to it, (there were only 2 people alive, so i just went for the drop) i got killed, then the other guy picks it up (while it was still assigned to me :S) , after the mission i started begging for it, it ended up as superior water magic And for gold weapons, they end up as 15% when health BELOW 50%, which i better salvage then sell i guess im one of the most unlucky persons in gw |
